Studio Visit: Lotfi
Combining simple materials and minimal design, San Franscisco-based Lotfi is a line of everyday bags designed by Sharareh Lotfi. I had the pleasure of visiting Shara's charming studio space in the city one lovely afternoon.
Founded in 2011, Lotfi was initially conceived as a clothing line. Shara transitioned to designing practical carry-alls with elevated details following the birth of her daughter. Combining simple shapes and sustainable materials like canvas or organic hemp along with cotton cord, Shara creates bags that are comfortable and lightweight, yet hardworking for daily use or travel. Whether it's a pretty plant, mood board, sewing machine or swatches, I love seeing the inspiration, tools and materials behind the products that we offer.
Shara's commitment to beautiful simplicity, considered details and functionality is apparent in her inspiring home studio. Their cozy home is a delightful fusion of treasured finds, hand-built objects and well-loved pieces. I love their collection of books, artwork and ceramics! And the familiar circular shape is all around reminding me of her classic Serus bag.
I'm always grateful to meet and visit with the kind and inspiring individuals who design the beautiful pieces we showcase. I truly admire Shara's thoughtful intuitive process in creating her super practical bags while balancing family life. Thank you so much Shara for sharing your lovely home studio space!
