Two college friends, with diverse backgrounds in metalwork and film making, were united by their shared appreciation for clean, minimal design and went on to form Chicago-based Mute Object. David Choi studied metal in undergrad (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) and grad (SUNY New Paltz). Namq Kang studied advertising in undergrad (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign), and film in grad (Art Center College of Design). They met in undergrad and continued their friendship until today. David and Namq always shared a common aesthetics of being inspired by simple things. The two decided to create a brand so that they could solely focus on that idea of making minimal, yet eloquent jewelry.
They're committed to creating perfect objects that is simple, yet beautiful. Their jewelry exemplifies their aesthetic approach, with architecturally inspired pieces that remain subtle and very wearable. Every piece is handmade in Chicago, Illinois.
